La Romana: Public transport worker killed in shooting

A 29-year-old public transport worker, identified as Ramón Zorrilla Rodríguez, was killed by gunfire in the Villa Hermosa sector of La Romana. The incident occurred while Rodríguez was a passenger in a parked collective transport vehicle in front of a commercial establishment.

Witnesses reported that two individuals on a motorcycle, dressed in black, opened fire. While some local reports suggest the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery of a Cervecería Nacional Dominicana truck, the National Police report indicates the victim was shot during the incident and subsequently died at the Villa Hermosa Municipal Hospital after sustaining a chest wound.

Scientific Police technicians recovered evidence at the scene, including two bullet holes in the vehicle's windshield. The Regional East Investigation Subdirectorate (DICRIM) is currently reviewing security camera footage and conducting interviews to identify the suspects, who fled on a motorcycle without visible license plates.
