The World’s 50 Best Hotels announces 2026 extended list
The World’s 50 Best Hotels has released its extended 2026 list, featuring rankings from No. 51 to No. 100. The selection covers 40 cities across 23 territories and includes 10 independent hotels. The full top 50 list is scheduled to be unveiled in Paris on September 15, 2026.
Asia leads the extended rankings with 20 hotels, including seven in Japan such as Park Hyatt Tokyo (No. 53) and Waldorf Astoria Osaka (No. 89). Europe follows with 16 properties, led by La Réserve Paris at No. 51. Italy shows strong representation with nine hotels, including Il San Pietro di Positano (No. 58) and Castiglion del Bosco (No. 62).
In North America, New York features prominently with three hotels, including The Fifth Avenue Hotel (No. 78), which received the American Express Travel One To Watch Award. Other notable entries include Mexico with three properties and South America with two, including Palacio Nazarenas in Peru. The list was determined by the votes of over 800 anonymous industry experts.
