La Réunion authorities to meet regarding child protection
The second edition of the “STOP VIF – Protégeons nos enfants” meeting is scheduled to take place in La Réunion on August 17. Organized by the associations EPAA 974 and the STOP VIF collective, the event aims to improve the protection of children exposed to or victimized by domestic and sexual violence.
Approximately 60 participants are expected, including high-level authorities such as the president of the Departmental Council, the Prosecutor General of the Saint-Denis Court of Appeal, and the island's two public prosecutors. Representatives from state services, law enforcement, the CAF, the Rectorat, and various child protection professionals will also attend.
The discussions will focus on concrete situations, ranging from the initial disclosure of violence to judicial decisions and parental authority. The primary goal is to strengthen coordination between institutions and field actors to reduce procedural uncertainties and create more effective support systems for families.
