Léa Salamé steps back from France 2 news following Glucksmann candidacy

Journalist Léa Salamé has stepped back from presenting the 20:00 news on France 2 following the announcement of her partner Raphaël Glucksmann’s candidacy for the 2027 presidential election. The move is intended to maintain the impartiality of the public broadcaster.

Pascal Doucet-Bon, the mediator for France Télévisions, addressed public speculation regarding Salamé’s compensation. He clarified that while she remains an employee of the group, the portion of her salary specifically linked to presenting the 20:00 news has been removed, resulting in a reduced income.

Valérie Trierweiler commented on the situation, noting that the professional changes for Salamé are inevitable given the political context. Trierweiler, drawing on her own experience as a former first lady, suggested that such transitions can cause profound disruptions to a journalist’s career.
