La Salle Green Archers defeat UST Growling Tigers in UAAP Season 89

The De La Salle University Green Archers defeated the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, 92-80, in the UAAP Season 89 Men’s Basketball Tournament. Despite playing without star playmaker Jacob Cortez, who was sidelined due to a hyperextended right knee, La Salle improved its record to 5-4, moving into solo third place in the standings.

Jcee Macalalag and Doy Dungo led the victory with career-best performances. Macalalag scored a career-high 28 points, including six three-pointers, while Dungo contributed 24 points, four rebounds, and four assists. The Green Archers secured the win by outscoring UST 25-9 in the fourth quarter, effectively neutralizing the Tigers' historic shooting performance of 17 three-pointers.

Players noted that Cortez provided significant leadership from the sidelines, offering tactical instructions and encouragement to the squad during the match.
