La Selva receives 10.7 million euros in EU funds for social services
The La Selva region in Catalonia has received a total of 10.7 million euros from European Next Generation funds to modernize and strengthen social services and elderly care facilities. Managed by the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Department of Social Rights and Inclusion, this investment makes La Selva the leading region in the Girona area for this specific funding.
Lloret de Mar is a primary beneficiary, receiving 5.90 million euros for its residence and day care center. Other significant allocations include 1.82 million euros for the expansion and modernization of the Túrsia Residence and Day Center in Tossa de Mar, which increases its residential capacity from 35 to 50 places.
Additional funding has been distributed to Sant Hilari Sacalm (1.09 million euros), Caldes de Malavella (790,000 euros), and Vidreres (521,000 euros) for various residential and day care projects. Raúl Moreno, the Counselor of Social Rights, noted that these reforms aim to address the needs of an aging population by providing more places and promoting autonomy for the elderly.
