Silvia Intxaurrondo marks five years at RTVE as program ratings hit record highs

Journalist Silvia Intxaurrondo is celebrating five years leading the RTVE morning magazine ‘La Hora de La 1’. Under her leadership, the program has seen significant growth, increasing its audience share from 8.4% in the 2021-2022 season to 18.8% at the close of the 2025-2026 season. When including simultaneous broadcasts on Canal 24 Horas, the share reaches 21.2%. This represents the best performance for La 1 in this time slot since the 2008/09 season.

Despite these record-breaking ratings, the success comes amid an ongoing legal dispute between Intxaurrondo and RTVE regarding her employment status and contract conditions. RTVE has publicly highlighted her role as a key figure for the network while the judicial conflict continues.

In other Spanish media news, journalist Fernando de la Guardia is returning to television. After a three-year hiatus caused by facial paralysis from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, he will rejoin Canal Sur to host ‘Andalucía Mediodía’ starting September 7.
