La Thur river source located in the Hautes Vosges

The Thur river originates at an altitude of 1,195 meters within the Rothenbach high moors nature reserve in Wildenstein, located in the Hautes Vosges region.

Visitors can access the source via the Route des Crêtes through either the Thann or Munster valleys. The area is characterized by high moors, chamois, and bell-wearing cows. Recommended routes include visiting the Rothenbach nature house, which offers exhibitions and observation tools for viewing local wildlife, before following a trail through blueberry bushes toward the western flank of the Rainkopf.
