La Tirana prepares for 2026 Prayer for Chile religious festival

The town of La Tirana is preparing for the 2026 Prayer for Chile festival, a four-day religious celebration held in honor of the Virgin of Carmen, the patron saint of Chile. The festivities are scheduled to take place from Thursday, September 24, to Sunday, September 27.

The program begins on Thursday with an inaugural Eucharist at 18:00. Friday's activities include folkloric performances in the morning and the official opening of the festival with religious dances at 16:00. Saturday features a mass for the sick at midday, baptisms in the afternoon, and a community pilgrimage starting at 21:00 from Villa Padre Javier García.

The main celebrations conclude on Sunday, starting with the traditional 'Saludos del Alba' at midnight. Key events include the descent of the Virgin of Carmen's image at 11:30 and the central Mass for Chile at 12:00, which includes traditional dances.
