La Trastienda seeks 20-year lease renewal for Teatro de la Ciudad

The Asociación Civil Grupo de Teatro ‘La Trastienda’ has formally requested a 20-year renewal of the comodato (loan for use) agreement for the property located at Pasaje Villanueva 1470 in Corrientes, Argentina. This site currently houses the Teatro de la Ciudad.

The request was submitted on August 20, 2026, to both the Honorable Concejo Deliberante (under File No. 07-G) and the Municipal Executive (under File No. 57247/26). The initiative aims to ensure the long-term continuity of the independent cultural space, which has operated at this location for nearly two decades.

Since receiving the property in 2006, La Trastienda has invested in infrastructure and equipment to transform a raw warehouse into a functional theater, supported by an agreement with the Instituto Nacional del Teatro. The organization emphasizes that a renewal is vital for providing predictability for the staff, artists, technicians, and producers who rely on the venue.
