La Vanguardia launches AI-powered audio reading feature
La Vanguardia has introduced a new audio reading system within its mobile application for iOS and Android users. Developed using artificial intelligence, the technology aims to provide a more natural and warm vocal experience compared to traditional robotic automated reading systems, improving both intonation and diction.
Subscribers can access several distinct voices tailored to specific content sections. For Spanish-language articles, four unique voices have been created to cover Opinion, Sports, and Magazine or People sections, in addition to a primary voice. A fifth voice has been developed specifically for the 'La Vanguardia en Català' section. For the 'La Contra' section, two voices are used to distinguish between questions and answers.
The updated app allows subscribers to create personalized audio lists of their favorite articles, which can be played consecutively via a new 'Audio' tab. The platform also offers a selection of regularly updated news audio and access to the newspaper's podcasts.
