La Vega parents protest over 911 antenna at local high school
Parents and community leaders in La Jina, La Vega, have staged protests at the María Dolores Valdez high school to demand the removal of an antenna installed on the building's roof. The antenna, reportedly belonging to the 911 emergency system, is accused of causing structural damage, leaks, and holes in the school's roof and walls.
Protesters claim the installation poses a significant collapse risk to the educational community. As a result of the safety concerns, more than 250 students have not yet begun the 2026-2027 school year. Local figures, including Father Rogelio Cruz, have called for the intervention of educational authorities and the Ministry of Education to ensure the school remains a safe environment for students and staff.
