La Voix acadienne receives national social economy award

La Voix acadienne, a community newspaper celebrating its 50th anniversary, has been honored with a national 2026 Lauriers de la PME award in the Social Economy Enterprise category.

The award ceremony took place on August 19 at the Acadian Museum of Prince Edward Island in Miscouche. The newspaper was one of eight organizations recognized nationally this year. Its candidacy was submitted by RDÉE Île-du-Prince-Édouard as part of a national competition organized by RDÉE Canada.

Stéphane Blanchard, Director General of RDÉE Île-du-Prince-Édouard, described the publication as the ‘voice of our people’ and a ‘living archive’ of the province's Acadian and Francophone identity. The recognition highlights the newspaper's ability to sustain itself through periods of financial difficulty, including the loss of significant advertising revenue.
