La Vuelta 2026: Enric Mas defends lead as Eddie Dunbar wins Stage 19

The 2026 Vuelta a España is entering its decisive final stages. Following a critical 32.1-kilometer individual time trial in Stage 18, Enric Mas (Movistar Team) successfully defended his red leader's jersey. Despite a strong performance by Stefan Küng, who won the stage, and a significant push from Primoz Roglic, Mas maintained a 1:37 lead over the Slovenian.

In Stage 19, a 210-kilometer mountain route from Vélez-Málaga to Peñas Blancas, Irish rider Eddie Dunbar secured a major victory. Dunbar overcame a breakaway and a late attack by Santiago Buitrago to win the stage, marking a successful comeback following a difficult season.

As the race approaches its conclusion in Granada, the general classification remains highly competitive. Mas holds a 1:37 advantage over Roglic and a 3:01 lead over Felix Gall. The upcoming stages will feature intense mountain climbs that will likely determine the final winner.
