La Vuelta Desafío Brasil to feature Serra da Tamoios climb
The 120 km La Vuelta Desafío Brasil by BTG Pactual, scheduled for November 29 in Caraguatatuba, will feature a significant climbing challenge early in the race. Participants must navigate a 17.5 km ascent via the new Serra da Tamoios, which includes approximately 15 km of riding through tunnels.
Race director Fernando Cheles noted that the route is unique, as it marks the first time the Serra do Mar will be traversed using the new Serra da Tamoios. The climb is concentrated within the first 20 km of the race, involving roughly 700 meters of elevation gain.
Athletes will face additional difficulties after the initial ascent, with another 700 to 800 meters of climbing distributed over the final 80 to 90 km of the course. Cheles emphasized that strategic energy management will be critical due to the intensity of the early climb.
