LA28 Olympic torch relay to visit all 50 U.S. states
Organizers of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games have announced that the Olympic torch relay will traverse all 50 U.S. states for the first time in history. The journey is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2028, following the lighting of the flame in Olympia, Greece.
The relay will commence in Atlanta, Georgia, paying tribute to the city's role as the host of the 1996 Summer Olympics. From Atlanta, the flame will travel across the country to reach Los Angeles for the Opening Ceremony on July 14, 2028. A full, detailed route including specific stops and a schedule will be unveiled in 2027.
LA28 President Casey Wasserman stated that carrying the flame to Los Angeles is an honor to be shared with every corner of the country. The Paralympic torch relay will also take place following the conclusion of the Olympics in August 2028, with its starting location to be announced at a later date. Major corporate partners for the relays include Coca-Cola, JPMorganChase, Allstate, and Xfinity.
