Labé authorities arrest 16 people in anti-shisha operation

Sixteen individuals, including three managers of leisure establishments, have been placed in provisional detention following an anti-shisha operation in Labé, Guinea. The arrests occurred during the night of October 6–7, 2026, targeting various venues such as the Albatros, Rama Boss, and Kassagui nightclubs, as well as the Roka lounge.

The operation was conducted by judicial police and gendarmerie services in response to a requisition from the Prosecutor General at the Conakry Court of Appeal. The mission aimed to search for and seize items related to the importation, distribution, and commercialization of shisha. Authorities seized various equipment, including devices, pipes, connectors, and aroma boxes.

Prosecutor Mohamed Samoura stated that the actions comply with a 2012 law prohibiting the consumption of tobacco and its derivatives in public spaces, specifically bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. The seized items will be presented to a judge to determine if they should be confiscated or destroyed.
