Labé: Seven-year-old boy killed in dump truck accident

A seven-year-old boy, Mamadou Lamarana Diallo, died on Monday afternoon, August 24, 2026, following a traffic accident in the Garki district of Popodara, located in the Labé prefecture.

Witnesses and local officials reported that a dump truck struck the child while the driver was performing a reversing maneuver. The driver and the child are both residents of the village.

Following the incident, the district president, Mamadou Mouctar Diallo, alerted local administrative authorities, including the mayor and the sub-prefect. Civil protection services arrived at the scene to conduct initial findings and transported the body to the morgue at the Labé regional hospital for autopsy. The driver and the vehicle were also taken into custody by authorities.
