Kosovo and Croatia see ongoing protests over Hague rulings and waste management

In Kosovo, thousands of people have held consecutive nightly protests in Pristina under the slogan ‘Ne u moje ime’ (Not in my name). The demonstrations oppose the rulings of the Specialized Chambers in The Hague, which sentenced former Kosovo Liberation Army (OVK) leaders, including Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi, to prison terms for war crimes. Organizers have called on the Kosovo Assembly to amend the law regarding the Specialized Chambers and have announced further planned gatherings.

In Croatia, environmental protests have erupted in the Istria region. Citizens in Kaštijun have demonstrated against the regional waste management center, citing eight years of unpleasant odors and demanding its closure in favor of a new system.

Additionally, residents in the Labin region have conducted road blockades near the Holcim cement factory in Koromčan. The protesters oppose the transport and incineration of waste from Gospić. While recent blockades of trucks have ended, activists have announced they will continue their struggle through legal channels in Croatian and European Union courts.
