Italy water utility updates: tariff changes and infrastructure investments

Various Italian regions are implementing new water service regulations and investment plans. In the Ponente Liguria region, the manager Rivieracqua has received approval for a 133.1 million euro investment plan for the 2026-2030 period to address infrastructure deficiencies. This plan is expected to increase consumer tariffs by 18% to 24%, though over 50 million euros in public funds will be used to mitigate the impact on households.

In the Marche region, the AATO 5 assembly approved a tariff update for the 2024-2029 period. While tariffs will remain stable in 2026, a 7% increase is planned for 2027. To support families, mayors from Ascoli Piceno, San Benedetto del Tronto, and Fermo have proposed an extraordinary water bonus amendment.

In Anzio, Mayor Aurelio Lo Fazio clarified that water tariffs will remain frozen for 2026, with only a 1% increase scheduled for 2027 to cover regulatory adjustments. Meanwhile, in Is Mirrionis, residents have reported ongoing water shortages lasting several months due to persistent leaks and infrastructure issues.
