Labor Conciliation Centers report high resolution rates in Mexico

Labor conciliation centers in Coahuila and Quintana Roo are reporting significant success in resolving workplace disputes through mediation rather than litigation.

In Coahuila, the Labor Conciliation Center expects to close 2026 with between 10,000 and 11,000 requests, following more than 9,000 requests in the first three quarters. Since operations began in October 2022, the center has processed 192,834 requests, resolving 151,348 through conciliation agreements. These settlements have resulted in over 488 million pesos in payments to workers. Approximately 12% of requests are referred to the Judiciary when agreements cannot be reached within the 45-day legal timeframe.

In Quintana Roo, the state's Labor Conciliation Center reports a 72.6% resolution rate for conflicts. In Cancún alone, the center handles between 250 and 300 daily inquiries, with unfair dismissal cited as the primary cause for consultation. To improve accessibility, the center is promoting virtual hearings to reduce travel costs for workers in remote municipalities.
