Labor death in Argentina and violent attack on miner in Peru

In Argentina, a 62-year-old former employee of the textile company Emilio Alal, Silvio Ortíz, was found dead in Goya, Corrientes. Former colleagues noted that Ortíz had been receiving mental health treatment following the plant's closure seven months ago, an event that resulted in 240 job losses. The labor dispute remains unresolved as workers continue to protest for full severance pay, contesting the company's use of legal provisions to pay only 50% of indemnities.

In Peru, a 69-year-old mining worker, Juan Loayza Alcarraz, is in intensive care following a violent attack in Nasca. His family reports that he was kidnapped and beaten before being stabbed, causing severe damage to his spleen and other vital organs. The victim was transferred to a hospital in Ica for surgery, and the case has been reported to the Public Ministry to identify those responsible.
