Labor disputes are affecting educational sectors in Mexico and Peru. The protest stems from budget reductions affecting teaching hours and demands for more transparent procedures regarding academic workload distribution.

In Tacna, Peru, the SUTEP union is demanding the protection of labor rights and pensions following executive measures brought before the Constitutional Court. Union leader Rosana Reinoso criticized the lack of attention to pension financing proposals and questioned budget allocations to other state institutions. Additionally, the union noted that local transport strikes are complicating commutes for educators, prompting the group to evaluate changes in their operational strategy ahead of a national assembly on August 21.
