Labor disputes and legal claims reported in El Salvador and Chile

In El Salvador, Cesia Rivas, a leader of the VAMOS party, visited the Legislative Assembly's Human Resources department to clarify the terms of her recent dismissal. Rivas is contesting discrepancies regarding her employment seniority and contract expiration date. While institutional social media suggested her contract ended upon her dismissal, Rivas maintains her signed agreement was valid until December 2026. She also addressed a request to return $277.01 in advanced September salary and is seeking guidance from the Ministry of Labor regarding proportional severance benefits.

In Chile, the Municipality of San Carlos is facing a lawsuit for $74,376,618 filed by former official Makarena González Fuentes. The claim, which stems from a case dating back to 2017, involves unpaid social security contributions under the 'Ley Bustos.' The municipality's defense has argued for the dismissal of the claim based on the statute of limitations and abuse of right, citing over five years of procedural inactivity. The court is currently determining whether the execution of the payment will proceed.
