Labor disputes continue in Taranto schools and Campania ports

Labor unions in Italy are maintaining industrial actions regarding school integration services and port operations.

In Taranto, unions FP CGIL and CISL FP Taranto Brindisi have confirmed a sit-in scheduled for September 10 in front of the Prefecture. Although the Province announced that school integration services will resume on September 21, unions argue this date is a delay that negatively impacts students with disabilities and their families. They are demanding more than just a restart date, calling for new hires, financial coverage, and continuous service rather than a partial rollout.

In Campania, unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, and Uil Trasporti have suspended a 48-hour strike previously scheduled for September 11 and 12 at the ports of Naples and Salerno. The suspension follows a meeting called by the Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority to discuss the allocation of resources for companies providing temporary port labor. While the strike is paused, unions warned that mobilization may resume if the meeting on September 16 does not yield concrete responses regarding funding and job security.
