Labor disputes escalate at Aires del Sur and Ecocarnes in Argentina

Workers at the Aires del Sur plant in Tierra del Fuego have resumed production following a prolonged conflict. The Metalworkers' Union (UOM) reported that while employees are returning to work, the union is still negotiating for job stability and the recognition of skilled labor categories. Current production is expected to last approximately six months, though the union aims to secure long-term employment through the manufacturer Atuel.

In a separate labor crisis, the Ecocarnes meatpacking plant in San Fernando, Greater Buenos Aires, faces intense tension due to unpaid wages and potential mass layoffs. Following an unsuccessful mediation at the national labor ministry, workers held strikes and assemblies to protest incomplete salary payments. The company, which is reportedly facing significant financial instability and rejected checks, has proposed paying outstanding balances in installments, a move rejected by the workforce.
