Labor Film Festival debuts in Brattleboro

The inaugural Labor Film Festival in Windham County begins September 6 at the Latchis Theater in Brattleboro. The event will run for four Sundays through October 4, with each week dedicated to a specific theme regarding the labor movement and contemporary worker issues.

The festival opens with a screening of ‘Partners,’ a documentary detailing the unionization efforts at a Buffalo Starbucks. This movement has expanded to nearly 700 Starbucks locations across 40 states. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Casey Moore, a leader of the Buffalo Starbucks drive, alongside labor attorney Catherine Terrell and organizers from Healthy Living in Vermont. The panel will be moderated by Terry Tapp.

Subsequent festival dates include themes on immigrant workers (September 13), working-class organizing for housing rights (September 27), and lessons from labor history (October 4). The festival is sponsored by the Vermont AFL-CIO and the Vermont State Employees’ Association.
