Labor market trends show importance of speed and development

Recent research highlights evolving trends in the labor market, particularly regarding recruitment speed and the expectations of technical students. A US study analyzing millions of responses suggests that speed of response to job advertisements is a critical factor for success, often outweighing the perfection of a cover letter in the era of AI.

In a separate survey conducted by ABB among 939 technical secondary and university students, findings show that 56% prioritize learning opportunities and 53% focus on starting salaries. Notably, 65% of students are deterred by a lack of or slow response from employers after applying. The study also indicates that Generation Z values professional development, social impact, and respect, with many being willing to relocate for the right role. There is also a growing interest in AI integration, particularly among university-level students.
