Labor Party support falls to decade low in Australia

The Australian Labor Party's primary support has dropped to 29 percent in the latest Newspoll, marking its lowest level since June 2013. This decline places the party's support on par with Pauline Hanson's One Nation, while the Coalition remains at a near-record low of 18 percent. On a two-party preferred basis, Labor maintains a lead of 58-42 percent over the Liberal-National bloc.

As Parliament returns from its winter break, the government faces significant legislative challenges. These include contentious gambling reforms and a proposed overhaul of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The Greens are calling for bans on certain gambling inducements, while the Coalition has demanded stronger restrictions on gambling advertisements.

Regarding the NDIS, the government aims to achieve $38 billion in savings over the next four years by removing approximately 160,000 people from the scheme to ensure its long-term sustainability. NDIS Minister Jenny McAllister stated that the government believes these reforms are
