Labor protests erupt in Italy over healthcare and pharmacy sector disputes
Labor unions in Italy are organizing protests to address employment and contractual disputes in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
In Telese Terme, unions FP CGIL and UIL FPL held a demonstration at the GE.P.O.S. clinic following the dismissal of three long-term employees. Beyond the job losses, unions are demanding transparency from the Benevento ASL regarding the results of inspections and controls conducted at the facility, noting that promised updates have not been provided months after a meeting at the Prefecture.
In the Marche region, including Pesaro, unions Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl, and Uiltucs have announced a mobilization for October 31. The protest targets the failure to renew the Federfarma national contract for private pharmacy employees. Unions argue that the lack of renewal has created an unsustainable gap between private pharmacy workers and municipal pharmacy staff, who recently saw contract renewals through Assofarm, leading to concerns over contractual dumping.
