ADEOM union protests Lavalleja work schedule changes

Municipal workers in Lavalleja, represented by the ADEOM union, have mobilized to protest a new work schedule mandated by the departmental executive, set to take effect on October 1.

Union leaders Sergio Charquero and Mauricio Barrios stated that the decision was made without prior consensus with employees. The union argues that the change will negatively impact workers' quality of life, family organization, and economic stability. Specifically, they noted that the new hours could interfere with employees' ability to maintain second jobs, which many rely on to supplement their municipal salaries.
