Labor unions call for general strike in Zamora
Labor unions CCOO and UGT have announced a general strike in Zamora, Spain, scheduled for November 11. The mobilization aims to demand improved working conditions and protest the rising cost of living, which union leaders claim makes it difficult for workers to afford basic necessities such as housing, electricity, and food.
Union representatives Jesús Carretero (CCOO) and Juan Escudero (UGT) stated that employment no longer guarantees financial stability. They cited the blocking of collective bargaining agreements, lack of progress in labor negotiations, and the increasing difficulty of accessing housing as primary grievances. The strike is directed at government authorities and employers whom the unions accuse of failing to address economic precariousness.
