Labor wellbeing and worker rights discussed in Chile and Argentina
In Chile, Dr. Anna Traverso delivered a masterclass at UNAB regarding the role of Social Work in promoting wellbeing within corporate environments. Using the MASBE® model, Traverso argued that Social Work should move beyond crisis management to actively participate in the design and structural functioning of organizations. She emphasized that labor conditions significantly impact mental health, noting that workplace suffering often reflects how an organization distributes power, recognition, and dignity.
In Argentina, the Diocese of Quilmes issued a statement marking the feast of San Cayetano, the patron saint of bread, peace, and work. The Diocese highlighted the struggles of workers facing formal employment extinction, rising debt, and the difficulties of meeting basic needs. The statement called for the defense of land and the dignity of workers, criticizing economic policies that exacerbate poverty for the most vulnerable populations.
