Laboratorio Central celebrates 20 years of public health service

The Laboratorio Central de Redes y Programas de la Provincia is celebrating 20 years of service to public health. The institution currently processes over one thousand determinations daily, with approximately 68% of these being high-complexity studies.

Director General Gerardo Andino noted that the laboratory is the only facility in the region, both public and private, capable of performing specific flow cytometry studies essential for oncology patients. The facility also plays a critical role in transplant operations, having participated in an average of 90 operations in recent years, performing over 300 specialized practices including HLA typing and antibody detection.

Public Health Minister Emilio Lanari Zubiaur commended the staff for their sustained growth and technical evolution. The laboratory maintains 21 specialties, including molecular biology, which proved vital during the 2009 and Covid-19 pandemics, as well as microbiology, virology, and clinical chemistry.
