Labrador – Autopsy of Silence to have Canadian premiere at Cinemania
Rodrigue Jean’s thriller, Labrador – Autopsy of Silence, will have its Canadian premiere on November 11 and 12, 2026, at the 32nd Cinemania Film Festival within the Films du Québec competitive section.
The film follows a murder aboard a cargo ship during its final seasonal supply run to northern Inuit communities. After a cook is found dead in his cabin during a storm off the coast of Labrador, an Inuk mechanic named Alupa Tulugak becomes a central suspect. The narrative utilizes a reverse chronology structure to explore themes of power, sexuality, and authority within the ship’s hierarchy.
Previously, the film received three awards at the Tribeca Festival, including Best International Narrative Feature, Best Cinematography in an International Narrative Feature for Mathieu Laverdière, and Best Performance in an International Narrative Feature for Christopher Angatookalook. A theatrical release in Quebec is scheduled for February 12, 2027, via h264 Distribution.
