Labuan Bajo tourism recovers following Flores earthquake

Tourism activities in Labuan Bajo and the Manggarai Barat Regency are gradually recovering following a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in Flores. The Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (BPOLBF) reports that 12 destinations, including Komodo National Park, have reopened to visitors after safety assessments. These locations include Puncak Waringin, Batu Cermin, Pulau Kelor, Liang Ndara, Wae Lolos, Papagarang, Pasir Panjang, Tondong Belang, Siru, and Gua Rangko.

While some areas have resumed operations, other destinations remain closed or are undergoing verification to ensure visitor safety. Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri met with local government officials and industry stakeholders to discuss strategic development and recovery steps. She emphasized that the government is providing cross-sector support, including social assistance, healthcare, and infrastructure recovery.

President Prabowo Subianto has also visited the affected areas to oversee disaster management and has allocated Rp200 billion in support for the impacted local governments.
