LABVERDE exhibition connects Manaus and Paris through art and technology

The LABVERDE platform is launching an exhibition titled ‘Máquinas para Desacelerar o Tempo’ (Machines to Slow Down Time) at the Galeria do Largo in Manaus. Opening on October 31, 2026, the showcase features works by French artist SMITH and Amazonian photographer Christian Braga.

Curated by Lilian Fraiji, the exhibition explores the intersection of art, technology, and environmental justice. It questions whether technologies typically used for extraction and control can instead be repurposed to protect and witness the natural world. The project aims to foster a dialogue between local Amazonian perspectives and the international art scene, with the exhibition scheduled to travel to Paris after its run in Manaus concludes on January 31, 2027.
