Lac Province in Chad ends state of emergency and curfew

Authorities in Chad's Lac Province have officially ended the state of emergency and lifted the nightly curfew. The decision, announced by General Saleh Haggar Tidjani, the Government Delegate for the province, marks a significant shift after several months of restrictive security measures.

The state of emergency was originally established by presidential decree in May 2026 and subsequently extended for a 90-day period to address regional security instability. The lifted curfew had been in effect from 20:00 to 06:00.

While the lifting of these measures allows residents to resume normal economic and social activities, security forces have been instructed to maintain high vigilance. Continuous nocturnal patrols will continue to be conducted to prevent threats and monitor for potential infiltration by hostile elements.
