Lacey Township opposes New Jersey sanctuary statehood policies
Lacey Township has adopted a resolution formally opposing New Jersey state laws that restrict cooperation with federal immigration authorities. The resolution, adopted on October 8, targets policies that limit law enforcement communications, information sharing, and identification requirements for officers, as well as restrictions on enforcement at designated sensitive locations.
Local officials stated that these state-level restrictions could undermine investigations and endanger officers. Lacey Township joins at least eight other New Jersey municipalities and three counties in expressing opposition to the state’s sanctuary policies, representing a collective pushback from local governments seeking greater cooperation with federal agencies.
