Lacombe County joins Sylvan Lake regional wastewater project

Lacombe County has confirmed its connection to a new $20.4 million regional wastewater line serving communities around Sylvan Lake. The project, which represents the fifth stage of a long-term regional initiative, will link the Summer Village of Half Moon Bay to Eckville.

The expansion is intended to support several Lacombe County subdivisions, including Kuusamo Krest, The Shores, West Side Country Estates, and Pelican Bay. To prepare for the connection, Half Moon Bay is developing an internal collection system, while Eckville is upgrading its wastewater lagoons.

The province has committed $18.4 million through the Water for Life program to complete this final phase. Once the system becomes operational in late 2027, it is expected to protect local aquifers and drinking water while providing the necessary capacity for future regional development.
