Laconia police solve 17 thefts and attempted burglaries

Authorities in Laconia have solved 17 cases of theft and attempted theft involving businesses, homes, and vehicles. The investigation was conducted by the Sparta Crime Investigation and Prosecution Department.

Four adults, including an 18-year-old, and three minors have been charged in connection with the crimes, which occurred between early January and early February. The group operated in the municipalities of Sparta and Monemvasia.

The suspects reportedly operated as an organized group, often wearing masks to hide their identities. Their methodology involved stealing vehicles during the early morning hours to use as getaway transport. They then used burglary tools to break into businesses to steal cash and safes before abandoning the vehicles at various locations. Police investigations are ongoing to identify additional accomplices and determine if the group is linked to other crimes.
