Lacs 1 and Nuremberg strengthen Togo-Germany partnership
The Lacs 1 commune in Togo and the German city of Nuremberg are working to strengthen their long-standing partnership, which was established in July 2017. Alexis Coffi Aquereburu, the Senator-Mayor of Lacs 1, traveled to Germany for a working mission including stops in Nuremberg and Bonn to review existing projects and identify new areas for collaboration.
Key achievements of the nine-year partnership include renewable energy initiatives, such as the installation of solar power systems at the Adjido-Aného Prefectural Hospital Center and the Aného-Glidji Technical and Vocational High School. These installations aim to increase energy autonomy and improve public service operations.
In the sector of sanitation and environmental management, Nuremberg has provided waste collection machinery, equipment for a composting platform, and personal protective equipment for workers. The municipality of Aného is scheduled to officially receive this equipment on October 9. Additionally, Mayor Aquereburu is seeking a one-year contract extension for a local expert dedicated to solid waste management.
