Ladakh Festival 2026 begins with pan-India cultural showcases
The three-day annual Ladakh Festival 2026 commenced on Saturday, September 26, featuring an expanded cultural program designed to showcase both regional heritage and pan-Indian traditions. According to Sanjit Rodrigues, Secretary of Tourism and Culture, the event includes various cultural troupes from across the country.
Key highlights include an inaugural performance by the 25-member Shillong Chamber Choir and a showcase by a 14-member troupe from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands under a ‘State in Focus’ initiative. Additionally, a 47-member troupe from the North Zone Cultural Centre will perform a fusion concert representing artists from various Northern Zone states.
The festival also features local contributions from each district of Ladakh, a handloom and handicraft exhibition at Leh Market, and a food court featuring authentic local cuisine. Sporting events include exhibition polo matches at Chushot Polo Ground and the introduction of the Ladakh Festival Archery Cup.
