Ladakh inaugurates world's highest twin flower fields in Leh

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has inaugurated the world’s highest twin flower fields in Leh, Ladakh, to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday. Located at an altitude of 10,600 feet in Choglamsar and Skatna, these fields are among the highest and largest in India.

Spanning approximately 40 acres, the project features over 2.5 million flowers, including 2.4 million Lilium and 100,000 Gladiolus. The Choglamsar field was developed in a record two months, with planting beginning in mid-July and blooming by early September. The Skatna field, which contains roughly 1.4 million Lilium plants, is expected to bloom by late October.

The initiative aims to diversify local agriculture, empower farmers, and create new economic opportunities through commercial floriculture. By tapping into national and international markets for high-demand varieties like Lilium and tulips, the project seeks to drive rural economic development and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the fields are expected to serve as a new attraction for tourism in the region.
