Ladakh launches tourism festival and youth internship program
The Union Territory of Ladakh has launched several initiatives aimed at economic development and youth engagement. The inaugural Ladakh Bike Week 2026 commenced in Leh on September 1, a week-long event designed to promote adventure tourism. The program includes a motorcycle rally through eastern Ladakh and the Galwan region, a Himalayan basecamp in Chuchot, and a vintage motorcycle exhibition. Officials expect approximately 5,500 daily visitors and hope the event will boost local businesses such as hotels, transport, and handicrafts.
Simultaneously, the administration is expanding governance opportunities for local youth through the LG Youth Internship Portal. Launched by Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena, the program offers three-month internships across 25 different departments. Participants can apply for roles matching their qualifications and will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 along with a certificate of experience. The initiative aims to integrate young people into the administration to support the vision of a developed Ladakh.
