Ladakh leadership submits non-negotiable demands to central government

The Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) have submitted a charter of “non-negotiable” demands to the Indian government ahead of a scheduled meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in September.

During an informal meeting in Leh with Ladakh Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra and MHA officials, the representative groups outlined their requirements for Ladakh’s future political, financial, and constitutional framework. Key demands include the restoration of a democratically elected legislature and specific constitutional safeguards for the region.

The groups also submitted a resolution seeking the unconditional withdrawal of legal cases against over 80 individuals involved in previous agitations. Additionally, they are demanding “dignified and respectable compensation” for families affected by violence in Leh on September 24 last year.
