Ladakh Marathon sees multiple record-breaking performances
The 13th Ladakh Marathon featured several record-breaking performances across various high-altitude endurance categories. In the 122 km Silk Route Ultra, Nawang Tsering set a new record with a time of 12:12:18. The race course climbed from Nubra Valley to 17,618 feet at Khardung La before finishing in Leh. Tenzin Dolma secured victory in the women’s Silk Route Ultra race.
In the 72 km Khardung La Challenge, Jigmet Stobdan established a new record with a finishing time of 6:00:03. Meanwhile, in the full marathon category, Mumbai-based elite runner Nikhil Singh won his debut Ladakh Marathon in 2:44:40. Singh attributed his victory to mental strength and strategic pacing despite facing altitude-related challenges such as dizziness and headaches during acclimatization.
Other notable finishers included Suraj Meena, who set a record for the fastest non-Ladakhi runner in the ultra category, and Sufiya Sufi Runner, a five-time Guinness World Record holder, who competed in the women’s race.
