Ladakh Marathon Sets Record Rs 1 Crore Prize Pool for 2026 Edition
The Union Territory Administration of Ladakh announced a record prize pool of Rs 1 crore for the 13th Ladakh Marathon, scheduled for 10‑13 September 2026. The high‑altitude event expects over 10,000 visitors, with participants from all 28 Indian states, six Union Territories and all six inhabited continents.
The marathon will feature the full marathon, half marathon, 11.2 km run, 5 km fun run and two ultra‑distance races – the 72 km Khardung La Challenge and the 122 km Silk Route Ultra. Officials said the increased prize money aims to strengthen the event’s global stature and boost sports tourism in the region. The UT administration estimates the marathon generates more than 70,000 bed‑nights, with an average daily spend of US$60‑70, injecting roughly US$4.2 million into the local economy.
