Ladakh to establish dedicated Cyber Police Station

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has approved the establishment of a dedicated Cyber Police Station in Ladakh. The unit will serve as the Union Territory’s centralized investigation hub for cybercrimes, including financial fraud, online scams, identity theft, and digital arrests.

The station will have jurisdiction across the entire territory and will operate under the administrative control of the Chief Executive Officer of the UT Ladakh Cyber Crime Coordination Centre. It will investigate offenses under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The initiative follows directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs to strengthen cybercrime coordination mechanisms.

To combat rising digital threats, the station will facilitate e-Zero FIRs, coordinate with the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and the 1930 helpline, and work with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), banks, and telecom providers to freeze fraudulent transactions. Data indicates a significant rise in local cybercrime, with complaints increasing from 43 in 2022 to 366 in 2025.
