Los Angeles Chargers sign WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The Los Angeles Chargers are signing veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad following a workout on Tuesday. The move comes as the team addresses depth issues at the position.

Valdes-Scantling, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, provides a potential deep-threat option for Los Angeles. His signing follows the placement of KeAndre Lambert on injured reserve and ongoing injury concerns regarding top wide receiver Ladd McConkey, who is currently considered ‘day to day’ with a rib injury sustained during the Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Valdes-Scantling, 31, has played for several teams including the Packers, Chiefs, Bills, Saints, Seahawks, 49ers, and Steelers. In his career, he has recorded 219 receptions, 3,686 yards, and 21 touchdowns.
